Reminder: YF Finale

Just a friendly reminder that this coming Sunday is the big YF finale. We have some great things planned — you won’t want to miss it! Last year’s finale generated some laughs (and photos) that will long be remembered in YPC lore…

Parents and youth should attend together. Please also bring a snack to share (think appetizer, dessert, etc.). We will hold our annual Parent vs Youth challenge, have some additional fun, and recognize our graduating seniors.

I will also share some key dates for the summer, especially for work trippers.

We will gather again on April 15, when we will be helping the Food Pantry.

Second Work Trip Payment Due

Hey all… If you are going on the 2012 work trip to Eastern Shore, VA your second payment ($150) is due. A few of you have paid it already. Those who haven’t, please do so this weekend. If you don’t remember if you have paid the second payment, ask!

Help with Holy Week

Final reminder: We are looking for a few volunteers to help with Holy Week services, specifically Good Friday (4/6). The whole congregation saw your talents on Youth Sunday, and would love to see you again during this special service.

I hope you do. But I fear you’ve lost track of the deadlines!

In the information sheet distributed to youth and families (during the family night, separately to those who were not able to attend), January 1 was identified as the first payment due date. If you don’t remember this information sheet, click on the link below:

Christmas Events

Don’t forget our upcoming events to celebrate the birth of Christ!

Sunday 12/11 – 6:00pm – Annual Christmas Dinner
This year we are taking this show on the road, gathering at Giordano’s in Oak Brook (across from Costco). This is an opportunity to dress up a bit (yes, Paul wears a suit!), have some food and fellowship, and of course have the traditional gift exchange. $10 limit on gifts — actually valuable or totally crazy are both acceptable!

We will finish at 8:00.

Wednesday December 28 – “Older Alumni” Hang Out – time and place TBD
This is for those who are finishing college or even a few years past that. We will gather to catch up on what’s going on these days and remember times past.

New Years Eve Eve Party – Friday December 30 – evening, time TBD
High schoolers and recent alumni will get together to celebrate the coming of the new year. Stay tuned for more details!

Retreat Notice Due!

Family Night

Hey everyone… don’t forget that tomorrow’s YF is a special night… for two reasons:

1) Parents are invited (for the whole time)

2) We will start at 5:00 instead of 6:00. At 5:00, we will share a meal and talk about the 2012 work trip to the Eastern Shore of Virginia. Around 6:00, we will start our YF evening program.

Retreat Information

The Presbytery of Chicago Senior High Retreat is approaching! The weekend of November 4 – 6, we will spend time with youth from others churches around the area being “Called to Action.”

The flyer (link at the bottom of this post) provides more information. about the retreat, what to bring, what we’ll do, etc.

We will leave YPC at 6:00 PM on Friday the 4th, and expect to return around 1:30 on Sunday the 6th. Please eat before arriving on Friday night.

The cost of the retreat is $100 per youth. Please make checks payable to Yorkfield Presbyterian Church.

If you plan on attending, I need to know by October 20 — no exceptions. I need your payment and the completed covenant and release (also included in this post) by Sunday October 30. I recognize the retreat weekend is the state cross country meet… plan accordingly.
